Ah it's finally Christmas, the time of the Jolliest. My mental state isn't the most ideal right now, but it is nice to see people being happy. I love it when people edit their favourite media into Christmas related stuff. One of my all time favourites is this edit of a Houseki no Kuni panel (spoilers for manga content).
Another good one is this Cookie Run Mean Girls edit I found on Facebook, I'm not sure who is the original editor, but I saved it and uploaded it to Youtube. Seeing Fire Spirit accidentally kicked the music player into Pitaya's face makes me laugh so hard.
Anyway, I feel like this is a good time to talk about something I haven't done in a long time: Making Christmas cards. When I was younger, around the primary school era, I made Christmas cards for everyone, even those I hated for some reason. I don't think I drew fancy stuff though (would've been too much trouble), I just write "Merry Christmas" with glitter pen on a pre-made card and put them in a envelope then call it a day.
As I got to secondary school, it seems this tradition of mine faded away, probably because I couldn't remember my classmates' names and faces anyway, and the fact I received Christmas cards far less than I used to. And even when I found a few friends I'm cool with, I just didn't have the energy to make them, for some reason.
Fast forward to recently, I asked a close friend whom I haven't met IRL for years to hang out after exam, which will be after Christmas. This is such an important event to me, so I decided to prepare something, and as the date is quite close to Christmas, I decided to make a Christmas card.
Pretty sure I am putting way more effort than I used to, I drew the cover, I wrote a long ass message aside from just "Merry Christmas", and I added a few more decorations in the card. But making this has reminded me the joy of creating for someone. Creating stuff has been a hobby of mine, but there's an even larger joy when you get to share that happiness to others.
Perhaps I should do it more often!
